215 Chrystie

215 Chrystie offers eleven one-of-a-kind condominium residences with interiors by critically acclaimed British designer John Pawson. The building was designed by world-renowned, Pritzker Prize award-winning architects Herzog & de Meuron who are known for their iconic structures around the world including the Beijing Olympic National Stadium "The Birdsnest", The Perez Art Museum in Miami, The Tate Modern Museum in London, and countless other unique and distinct projects and museums.

The idea behind 215 Chrystie Street expands on Ian Schrager's idea of "Effortless Luxury Living". The idea is simple...deliver the pleasures of New York's imitable lifestyle, without the worries, hassles and inconveniences that are so often the price of it. As the building will also be the site of a 370 room hotel, effortless luxury living will extend beyond the realm of each individual residence to include privileges, services and amenities provided by the hotel.

Located in the Bowery neighborhood, the birthplace of counterculture and the crossroads of the city's most vibrant and exciting neighborhoods, 215 Chrystie stays true to the history, context, culture and spirit of its location. In a symbiotic relationship, 215 Chrystie is the ultimate expression of Uptown meets Downtown. The building is both completely original, refined and sophisticated, while at the same time subversive, edgy, exuberant and fun. The architects employed honest, modest and authentic materials in a refined, poetic and lyrical way. Both inside and outside, everyday raw concrete was used in an entirely new way with various novel techniques, adding additional elements and special wood framing that reinvents and recreates this everyday material. Floor-to-ceiling special imported windows with mullionless corners maximize rare unobstructed 270 degree views of New York City and create a light, airy, and transparent quality to the interior spaces as well as the overall building.
